About This Project
This modern commercial project in Schertz, Texas called for a glass entry that could open up a conference room without giving up privacy. We installed an advanced electronic switch glass, or smart glass, double door entry system as the centerpiece of the space, delivered through our custom interior glass service.
The client needed a versatile solution that balanced an open concept feel with instant privacy for sensitive meetings. A fixed frosted panel would have closed the room off permanently, and clear glass alone would have left every meeting on display. Switchable glass solves both problems in a single installation.
By utilizing state-of-the-art switchable glass technology, the panels effortlessly transition from completely transparent to a frosted privacy pane at the flip of a switch. When the room is open, the partition reads as clear architectural glass and keeps daylight moving through the floor plan. When a private conversation begins, the same panels turn opaque instantly, with no blinds, curtains, or hardware to manage.
Switch glass is an electrical product as much as a glass product, so the double doors were planned around both the opening and the power feed. Our team precision-fitted the massive glass panels so the doors hang true, close evenly, and switch as a single, coordinated pair rather than as two independent leaves.
Vertical pull handles were selected to match the scale of the doors. Full-height pulls give the entry a clean, intentional line, keep the hardware visually quiet against the glass, and make a pair of large, heavy doors comfortable to operate all day in a working office.
Large-format commercial glass leaves very little room for error. Panels of this size have to be measured, fabricated, and set with precision, because the openings are tall, the glass is heavy, and any deviation shows immediately in the reveals and in how the doors meet.
